i think a lot of complaints about modern pokemon games run a mix of "genuine issues in the game industry in general that may or may not specifically apply to pokemon" and "old man yells at cloud" but one move game freak has been deploying for a few years now that i am firmly against is your rival picking the starter that's weak to yours. like come on man.
